Old School Mecha Mayhem: Tetsujin 28 DVD

Celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year Tesujin 28 has been produced as a live action film by Toho studios with a UK DVD release imminent. Sited as the definitive origin of the 'Super Robot' phenomenon Tetsujin 28 first appeared as a serialised story in the pages of 'Shonen' magazine in 1956.
It was then adapted and broadcast as a radio drama in 1959 evolving further to appear in prolific live action and animated outings between 1960 and 2004. Tetsujin 28 also found popularity in the US under the name 'Gigantor' thrilling kids stateside as it did natively in Japan. Over time the cartoon, comics and toys have achieved global cult status establishing Tetsujin 28 as a much loved anime classic with solid roots at the heart of robot culture.
