"Creativity is like evil... it's practiced by many, mastered by few & constantly misunderstood by everyone. That said, it's better to be misunderstood for creative achievements than evil ones." Abel Mortis' interest in writing narrative fiction draws heavily on the classic influences of Dashiell Hammet, J. Sheridan Le Fanu and Edgar Allan Poe. The additional influence of composers such as Béla Bartók & Elgar combined with an interest in film, inspired him to pursue a career as a professional sound recordist. The nature of his work in the film and music industries has ranged from bland to bizarre taking him far & wide across the globe. He fondly refers to his experiences as 'a divine opportunity to pursue a study of the aural senses' & In 1999 he formed Aural Dynamics as a firm testament to this. Initially conceived as a private endeavour for the development of his own audiovisual projects the concept has blossomed to become a production platform accommodating the work of fellow sound enthusiasts. Abel Mortis is currently concentrating on completing the script & soundtrack for his 'Voodoo Terror' narrative project while also busy developing the storyline for another project titled 'Quiet Toilets Make Me Nervous'. He plans to bring many delights of sight & sound to the world via the Aural Dynamics web site. |
