I've been in awe of the narrative capabilities of music since childhood & have been obsessed with the form & structure of sound ever since.
Gustav Mahler, Sergei Rachmaninov & Igor Stravinsky composed some of the most spellbinding melodies I've heard
- nothing has ever matched that standard. The phenomenal title theme from the film Dark Waters has haunted me since my first viewing
and if I ever meet the composer, Igor Clark, I will buy him several drinks & maybe lunch too.
Herbie Hancock's early output is rock solid, Weather Report
knocked out some gems, Stan Clarke, Jaco Pastorius
& John Mclaughlin get a firm nod too. Siouxsie & the Banshees,
Tubeway Army & Killing Joke
left an indelible mark & made eighties Britain a bit more interesting to grow up in while John Foxx's genius continues to shine now as it did then. Regarding Techno... many people attempt to define it but few are genuinely aware of what techno music really is.
Tommy Cooper, Peter Cook, Woody Allen & Richard Pryor are among the funniest people to have graced the face of this planet,
most politicians run an unintentional close second. The achievements of Michael Collins & Sun Tzu remain inspirational sources of wisdom.
